The One with the Lazy Blogger

I know it's been a while.

I just haven't felt much like blogging.

I'm exhausted from school, feeling like I'm being pulled in 100 different directions at once, and don't have much to say.

I will do an update in the next couple of weeks on Project Make a Baby and what is happening on that topic.  I'm just finding it's better for us right now to keep those details to ourselves.

On a different note, I got to meet a gorgeous brand new baby this past weekend.  One of my best friends gave birth last Monday to a beautiful little big girl (9 lbs, 8 oz.!).  It was so amazing to hold this little life in my arms and dream about having that some day.  My friend is already a fantastic mother and I can't wait to watch her daughter grow up.

My current "baby" is growing by the minute.  I swear Max gets taller and wider every time I look at him.  While I certainly don't miss the peeing-in-the-house-every-5-minutes, middle of the night trips outside, and the puppy teeth, I do miss him being this little...

His head barely fits under this table now!

Alright, I'm off to enlighten 6-year-old minds.  Or at least teach them how to write their names!

The One with Some Catch-Up

What up blogging world?

Sorry I've been MIA for a while.  That whole going back to school nonsense has really gotten in the way of my blogging life.  And pretty much any other kind of life I may have had during the summer.

Quick run-down of life lately:

  • I am pretty happy with my class this year.  They are a good group and we haven't had any major issues yet.  Couple of chatterboxes, but I usually whip them into shape quickly!  Thankfully very different from how my year started last September.
  • Saw these Candy Corn White Chocolate M&Ms when I was at Target last week and I immediately picked them up.  I don't know how to describe the taste...it's not really candy corn like, but they are pretty fab.
Oh em gee!  Festive and delish!
  • I need to seal our granite countertops this weekend.  It's such a project and I dread doing it every year, but they desperately need to be done.
  • As previously mentioned, I won't be talking about the results of all of our tests quite yet.  I'm just not ready to go there.  Thanks for being patient with me.
  • I put together this made up creation for lunch today.  It's a pizza I made using the Philly cooking creme (I adore this stuff).  I found a new pesto one at the store last week and mixed that in with the chicken.  Then I spread ranch dressing on the pizza shell, put the pesto chicken on top and slathered it with cheese.  It was super yummy and lacking in all nutritional value.
  • I really need to go shopping for school clothes soon.  I need new shirts desperately and I am bored with my entire wardrobe.  Both Hubs and my wallet are going to strongly disagree with this idea.
  • We spent over an hour at Golfers' Warehouse today looking at putters.  And by we, I mean Hubs played with golf clubs for an eternity and I stood around watching.  I may deserve a present for my patience.  I may discuss that with him later today.  Perhaps this is where I will throw in the idea of the aforementioned wardrobe overhaul.
I am going to force myself to go and vacuum now.  I'm pretty sure I could create another Max with all of the fur that is flying around the house.  Speaking of the Wigglebutt, here's a picture from this week...

I just want to smush his face!

Off for a date with Dyson!

The One with the Wednesday Ramblings

I'm back for another round of Wednesday ramblings.

  • Today was literally the biggest waste of a professional day ever.  I mean who the frig needed to hear about how to renew our teaching licenses when almost every one of us has been here for numerous years?!  Completely useless day.
  • I packed my teacher bag this afternoon when I got home.  It was my first step in facing the reality of going back.
  • This brings me to my second reality facing activity - packing my lunch.  I'm already sick of it!  Good thing we order out on Fridays, so I only need to pack one lunch this week.
  • I have yet to pick out my first day of school outfit.  I went shopping yesterday but didn't find anything that I liked.  I think I may just wear a tank dress I have from Target because it will hopefully help keep me cool in my classroom.  The temperature is on par with the 10th circle of hell.
  • Another good thing about only having two days of school this week is I only have to wear real grown-up clothes for one day this week.  Not only is Friday order lunch day, but it's also wear jeans to school day.  Although jeans are significantly more real-clothes-like than I have worn all summer.
  • This whole post is school related so far.  Even I'm bored.
  • Have you checked out my friend Elyse's blog yet?  She is also part of the super sucky awesome club IF and she wrote a post last week about pink toilet seats, Starbucks, and full moons.  It was thoroughly enjoyable to read, even if combined it all caused her to have a semi-breakdown.  Love her lots!
  • Max requires Hubs to play throw the tennis ball every.single.night.  No matter how tired and sound asleep Max is before Hubs sits down on the couch after showering, he will wake up, find one of the dozens of tennis balls that litter my living room, and demand to be played with.
  • One of my best friends is ready to have her baby any day now.  Even with everything that is happening with us, I am beyond excited for her and her husband.  I cannot wait to meet her baby and visit with them very soon.  I'm crossing my fingers it will be sometime this weekend!
  • I have no fun pictures to share in this post.  Sorry, I'm a little sucks-at-life lately.
  • I have to get my DVR organized for the new fall shows.  I usually tape a whole boatload of them and then try them out for an episode or two.  Then I narrow it down to the ones I want to commit to.
Alright peeps, I'm off to "Be still like vegetables.  Lay like broccoli" (Pretty Woman, anyone?) on my couch where I will inevitably fall asleep at an in-the-8's time and be woken up by either a dog tongue on my face or Hubs hitting my foot telling me to get into bed and sleep.

Be on the lookout for a post about the first day of school soon.  And I promise there will be pictures in the next post.

The One with the End of Summer

Today is my last official night of summer vacation.  I am having mixed feelings.

Things I am excited about for the new school year:

1. New students with new ideas, excitement, and super cute back to school clothes.

2. Sharp pencils that haven't been written with yet.

3. Twistables crayons.  Seriously, these things rock!  No more peeling crayon paper.

4. Catching up with colleagues.

5. Watching first graders learn to read.

Things I am not excited about for the new school year:

1. Getting dressed in real (non-yoga pants) clothes every day.

2. Packing a lunch.  I am going to miss just opening the fridge and making whatever I want at lunch time.

3. Having no time to read a book, expect possibly If You Give a Mouse a Cookie or June B.: First Grader (at last!).

4. Complete and utter exhaustion for the first few weeks months.

5. Alarm clocks (although Max has served as one all summer anyway!).

The kids don't actually start until Thursday.  Tuesday and Wednesday consist of meetings and professional development.

But, for all intents and purposes, summer is over.  Ready and not so ready for that to be happening.

****************************************************************

I leave you with a picture of how I found Max today.  Apparently, our central-air-at-72-degrees house was just too warm for him and he had to seek relief somewhere.

He kept right on snoring even when I went in to pee.

Hope everyone had a restful and relaxing Labor Day!
