The One with the Weekly Pregnancy Update

33 Weeks

I really loathe making those 3's.

How far along? 33 weeks (durian fruit...here's the Wikipedia explanation of this strange spikey fruit because I had no clue what the hell it was!)
Total weight gain/loss: +14 pounds according to the scale this morning...although with the massive quantities of Easter candy I'm consuming I see that number going up soon.
From the doctor: This was an off-week for an appointment so nothing new to report.
Maternity clothes: My new stuff from Gap and Old Navy arrived the other day and I headed over to Macy's yesterday to pick up a few things.  I got some shirts (I'm wearing one in the picture above) and also picked up a nightgown and robe for the hospital.
Sleep: This really hasn't been too much of a problem.  I wake up a few times at night, but I find myself able to go back to sleep.
Best moment this week: Seeing very good friends on Saturday.
Miss Anything? Goat cheese and Diet Coke.  I had a nagging headache yesterday and really wanted a cold DC to possibly help.  I know I can have an occasional one, but I've been trying to be good and resisted.  Definitely requesting those in the hospital.
Movement: Oh yes and I do love it.  Elbows, knees, and the bum are definitely starting to be recognizable at certain times when he moves.  I am also feeling him more on my cervix so maybe he's turned himself (fingers crossed!)
Food cravings: No real cravings, just hungry pretty much all the time.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Nothing really, but I just need to eat more frequent smaller portions to keep my stomach from getting too full.
Gender: Little guy.
Labor Signs: Nothing yet, but I can't believe that this whole labor thing is going to happen so soon!

Symptoms: Hip pain, difficulty breathing, dry skin
Major purchases this week? I picked up a few outfits and socks at Target and Macy's while I was out and about.  And I didn't buy it, but our highchair arrived this week from my fantastic aunt and uncle in North Carolina.  Well, technically it arrived last week, but we had to return it because it didn't work correctly and it needed to be exchanged.  Hubs put the new one together today and I love the way it looks.  I'll let you know how well it works with a baby in it in about 6 or 7 months!

Classes/Tours: We are finished with all of our classes and now just need to hope we remember it all when the big day comes.
Nursery: No big developments in there this week, but I am enjoying using my chair (I am blogging from there right now).  I am going to wash and organize a bunch of clothes after my shower in two weeks and Hubs promises he'll hang the bookshelves during our vacation in April.  I also picked up the wooden letters for his name to go above the crib, but we won't hang those until after he arrives so we can keep his name to ourselves.
How mama is feeling: I really do feel pretty good.  I'm tired and my body is sore, but I think I'm in pretty good spirits most of the time (Hubs may disagree with that one!).
Weekly wisdom:  Steal your husband's pajamas when yours no longer fit.  And while pregnancy is certainly not an excuse to eat everything in sight, enjoy your treats while you can.
Looking forward to: Pedicure on Wednesday, manicure and massage on Friday, and maternity pictures on Saturday.
Next appointment: March 27th.

On a side note, we've been doing some training with Max to get him ready for the little man's arrival.  He's been doing pretty well with the doll and I plan to try and take him for a walk with the stroller sometime in the next few weeks.  I have been using the purple Johnson & Johnson bedtime lotion on myself to get him used to that smell and he actually gets bathed using the baby shampoo so I'm hoping he's used to that smell already.  We've been playing some baby crying sounds on the phone for him to hear, but I am also going to put the phone in the crib with the doll to help him associate the two.  Once I have my shower and we get some more baby items, I am hoping to introduce more things to him.  We'll see how it goes...

The One with the Weekly Pregnancy Update

I said way back when that this blog wasn't going to become an all-pregnancy blog.  Apparently I lied because that is all I talk about on here.  I'm not offended if you jump ship or have already said peace out to reading this.  I really do have ideas for posts about other things.  In fact, there are post-it notes around my house with little notes about things I want to write about.  I just never get to them because sleep sounds more fun at this point.  I really am going to try to be better.  Like I have these new recipes I made that I want to talk about.  I promise those posts will come.

That being said, here's another pregnancy post.

32 Weeks

How far along? 32 weeks (squash)
Total weight gain/loss: +14ish pounds at Friday's appointment.
From the doctor: All looks well after my check-up on Friday.  Baby boy's heartbeat is strong at 144bpm and the doctor said to keep doing what I'm doing (Oh you mean, sleeping, eating, and waddling?  Sure I can handle that).
Maternity clothes: I finally bit the bullet and bought some more stuff last week.  I am waiting for it to get here.  My classroom is already like the 10th circle of Hell temperature-wise, so I really need some warmer weather stuff.  Even though it's supposed to effin snow tonight.
Sleep: I seriously feel like I'm back in the first trimester again.  I am exhausted pretty much all the time, despite sleeping pretty well at night.
Best moments this week: Spending some time just sitting in the nursery this weekend.  Nothing exciting happened, I just enjoyed the quiet time in there.
Miss Anything? Moving at a normal pace.  I feel so slow.
Movement: Oh, that's an understatement.  He was going nonstop yesterday afternoon while I was on the couch watching TV.  I'm glad he's having a good time in there.
Food cravings: Still drinking a ton of lemonade.  And eating a lot of cookies.
Anything making you queasy or sick? I felt kinda nauseous yesterday and I've read that is one of the things that can creep back in during the third trimester.  My stomach is definitely squished in there now.
Gender: Baby boy.
Labor Signs: Just the Braxton Hicks every once in a while.

Symptoms: Tired, irritable, achy back, leg cramps at night and some minor swelling in my feet after being on them all day.
Major purchases this week? I was pretty good this week!
Classes/Tours: We had our all-day childbirth class on Saturday.  It was very informative and it made me feel better to have them go through all the nitty gritty labor and delivery stuff.  We watched some videos too...Hubs just loved that part.  We also practiced some positioning and breathing techniques for labor.  Hubs also had to give me a hand massage!
Nursery: Hubs put the knobs on the dresser yesterday.  I love how they look!

How mama is feeling: I'm hanging in there.  I really don't mind being pregnant.  I mind working while being pregnant.  This would be an awesome time to be a rich stay at home wife.
Weekly wisdom: Tired is pretty much a way of life right now.  Don't cook dinner if you'd rather sit on the couch.  Don't vacuum if you'd rather take a nap.
Looking forward to: Seeing friends this weekend and continuing to registry stalk!
Next appointment: March 27th.

The One with the Weekly Pregnancy Update

31 Weeks

My belly looks like it's connected to the chalkboard at this point.

How far along? 31 weeks (pineapple)
Total weight gain/loss: Probably around +11-12 pounds...I feel like I've been eating like crazy this week.
From the doctor: Nothing new to report as this was an off-week for an appointment.  I've been taking my iron pill and this seem to be ::ahem:: moving along regardless of them.
Maternity clothes: Yes, although I am getting so bored with them.  I really don't want to spend any more money on new clothes, but I am running out of things to wear and I definitely have no warm weather clothes.
Sleep: Would like to be doing this for most of the day.  I am tired a lot now.
Best moments this week: Getting some more things organized in the house and nursery.  Hubs also saw the crazy waves of movement in my belly for the first time this week.
Miss Anything? Having the energy to do everything I want within the time frame I want.  I just can't get as much accomplished anymore without getting worn out.
Movement: This little man is definitely rocked to sleep when I am moving.  But once I sit still, all bets are off.  I have been able to feel certain body parts this week too when he moves a certain way.
Food cravings: Cinnamon crunch bagels from Panera and lemonade.
Anything making you queasy or sick? The red peppers I ate last night did not agree with my heartburn situation.
Gender: Sweet little guy.
Labor Signs: Nothing yet.

Symptoms: Sore feet and back, continued heartburn even with the meds, and some definite hot flashes where I just can't handle having clothes on (it's a pretty picture, trust me).  I also am having a lot of pressure in my chest when I sit down or don't sit up completely straight.  This kid is definitely running out of room quickly.
Major purchases this week? The rest of the stuff I ordered from PBK came in and so did the blinds for the nursery.  I am still waiting on the crib skirt.
Classes/Tours: My breastfeeding class last week was really informative and I learned some new stuff.  The instructor was extremely helpful and it was great to hear about all the resources available at the hospital for breastfeeding moms.
Nursery: The blinds are up and the sheets are on the mattress.  I fell asleep the other night sitting in the chair just imagining holding our little guy in there.  The nursery progress post can be found here and I am working on the nursery tour post.
How mama is feeling: I'm doing alright this week.  I have found myself with less patience, especially when teaching.  I am so at the point where I could just be done with work and hang out at home until this baby arrives.  Ah, wishful thinking.
Weekly wisdom: You cannot do it all at once no matter how hard you try.  Do a project and take a break.  Then go back to another project.
Looking forward to: Finishing up the nursery and picking out some outfits for our maternity pictures.  Also, one of our close friends is getting ready to have her c-section as I type this so I cannot wait to meet their daughter this week!
Next appointment: March 15th

The One with the Nursery Progress

Warning: lots of pictures to follow.  It's nursery overload.

This post will give you some details and show the progression of the nursery.  You may remember my post a while back with the nursery inspiration.  We ended up using a lot of the ideas from that post in the nursery.

I promise to do an official tour of the finished room in the coming weeks.

First off, there are some before pictures of the room.  It was a spare bedroom for guests, but also a catch-all for just about everything I didn't know what to do with.

Extra picture frames?  Oh, put them in the spare bedroom.

Leftover craft supplies from our wedding?  Just toss it in the spare bedroom.

Random extra clothes that I only wear on occasion?  There's room in the closet in the spare bedroom.

Well, I quickly discovered that all this crap couldn't stay in the soon-to-be-nursery so I had to do a bunch of rearranging and space managmatizing.

Paint samples, baby clothes, and a Kitchen Aid all in one spot.  Totes normal.

And this was after I had already cleaned out all of my craft supplies.

All my cleaning tools were stored in here too.  Love the Shark btw.

Once I finally picked the paint colors (Behr's Madras Blue for the walls and Porpoise for the stripe) and the bed was moved from the room (along with all the other shit), Hubs and I went to Lowe's and had them load us up with everything we would need to paint the room.  Way too much money later, we went home to get started.

Max really wanted to help with the process, but he got kicked out shortly after this picture was taken.

Hubs did most all of the work, but I provided moral support as needed.

Once the two coats of blue were on the walls and dry, it was time for the dreaded stripe.
Hubs' brother-in-law is a contractor and had this handy dandy laser that helped make a nice straight line on all the walls so Hubs could tape it off.

The stripe all taped off and painted.  We just crossed our fingers it would look good once the tape came off.

Ta-da...
I was so happy with how it looked and couldn't wait for the furniture delivery.

The painting was finished just in time for the arrival of the furniture during my February vacation.  We ordered the crib, dresser, and chair from Pottery Barn Kids.  The crib and dresser are from the Larkin collection and the chair is the PBK Grand Comfort.  It was definitely pricey, but I really fell in love with it and it all got great reviews.

There was a little drama on delivery day that ended with me shedding some extra-hormonal tears.  Long story short, the changing table topper for the dresser didn't arrive and was never ordered.  I will say that after a little back and forth with PBK, they did send out a new top at no charge to us (apparently we had never paid for one in the first place) and it arrived safely about 10 days later.

Yay for delivery trucks!

Oh I just can't wait to put our little boy in this crib.

Loving all the space for itty bitty baby clothes.

This chair rocks my world.  Seriously, the most comfortable thing I have ever sat in.

View from the door.

Since these pictures were taken, we added several other things that I will show when I do the full nursery tour.  They include the mattress and changing pad, rug, blinds, and bookshelves.  The knobs for the dresser arrived but are going to require a little bit of work to get on the dresser (the holes in the dresser are too small for the screws with the knobs...nothing a little power tool won't fix).

So that's how things are progressing in the little man's room.  I am just loving how things are coming together and I can't wait to have a real baby to put in that crib.  It still feels incredibly surreal to me that we are going to have a baby all our own in just a couple of short months.  I feel more excited and lucky with every passing day of this pregnancy.

Stay tuned for more nursery updates.

The One with the Weekly Pregnancy Update

30 Weeks

And once again, I hate doing "3's".

How far along? 30 weeks (cucumber)
Total weight gain/loss: Officially +10 pounds since the retrieval at my appointment this week.  I know the pounds are going to start going on quickly during these last weeks.
From the doctor: I had my 30 week appointment on Friday and all looks good.  I am measuring about 2 weeks ahead and the doctor isn't concerned at this point.  He said it is something we will monitor and if I am still measuring ahead when we get closer to my due date, we'll talk about options then.  My sugar test came back fine, but my blood count was just under normal.  He put my on an iron pill every other day, which is a pretty common occurrence in pregnancy.  I am seriously hoping that the pill doesn't make me super constipated.
Maternity clothes: Like I have a choice!
Sleep: I slept pretty well the last few nights, but I am still exhausted.  I got home from church on Sunday and could have taken a nap at 10 in the morning.
Best moments this week: Doing some organizing in the nursery, washing some teeny tiny baby items, and playing pretend baby with Max (a friend let me borrow one of her daughter's dolls).
Miss Anything? Bending over like a normal person.  I went to pick up one of Max's tennis balls on the floor from a sitting position on the couch and it was not pretty.  And while I love that my growing belly means a healthy baby, it is getting annoying that I am constantly bumping into everything.
Movement: This kid kicks like crazy.  He kicked hard enough to push my hand off my belly the other day.  In fact, he's kicking my laptop as I type this.
Food cravings: I have been eating Easter candy like it's going out of style...Cadbury mini eggs, Starburst jelly beans, and Reese's white chocolate eggs are at the top of the list.  I am also loving lemonade and I finally got my Shamrock Shake from McDonald's on Saturday.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Thankfully no.
Gender: One little boy, who has a name now.  But it's a secret until he arrives.
Labor Signs: Just the BH contractions occasionally.

Symptoms: Heartburn but that's nothing new, bloody noses, exhaustion.  Oh and the hemorrhoids are back.  Yes, TMI.  But we are friends so you can handle it.
Major purchases this week? Most of the things I purchased have been delivered.  I am mildly obsessed with the stroller (Britax B-Ready in red) and I love the seersucker outfit he'll be wearing in June.  I ordered the crib mattress and changing pad off our registry too because I wanted them to be in the nursery when we take our maternity pictures at the end of the month.  They arrived and now I am just waiting for the sheet and cover to come this week.
Classes/Tours: I am going to a breastfeeding class tonight that I am really excited about.  It is something I really want to commit to and I am hoping to learn a lot during the class.
Nursery: Oh it is coming together so nicely!
How mama is feeling: I really can't complain too much about this pregnancy and I am loving being pregnant.  I do get tired much more easily, but I am trying to take it easy when I can.
Weekly wisdom: Try to do one project a time so it doesn't seem so overwhelming.  And keep lists of things you want to get done.  I have always been the queen of lists, but they are more a necessity with pregmentia in full effect!
Looking forward to: Class tonight and continuing to stalk my registry (I know I shouldn't be looking, but I can't help it!)
Next appointment: March 15th.  I am on the every-two-weeks schedule now.
