The One with the Weekly Pregnancy Update

29 Weeks

They really shouldn't make maternity clothes with stripes.  It's just not playing fair.

How far along? 29 weeks (acorn squash)
Total weight gain/loss: +8ish pounds.  I'll find out for sure on Friday at my next appointment.
Maternity clothes: I am still wearing a few non-maternity tops, but only because they are super stretchy.  I live in leggings and even my maternity jeans are not the most comfortable anymore.
Sleep: I'm getting tired much more easily and could definitely nap every day if my life agreed with that plan.  Unfortunately, it doesn't so I have been going trying to go to bed earlier.
Best moments this week: Getting the nursery furniture, touring the hospital, and getting some awesome hand-me-down blankets, sleep sacks, and bottles from a friend.
Miss Anything? Not having heartburn.  I mean who gets heartburn from water?  It sucks.
Movement: Most definitely and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Food cravings: Finally indulged my donut craving this weekend.  Allie's Donuts did our wedding cake and my 30th birthday cake.  We picked up a dozen over the weekend and I am not ashamed to tell you I ate most of them.
Anything making you queasy or sick? I had a big salad last night when we went out for dinner and regretted it by the time we got home.  It didn't make me nauseous per se, I just felt a little off and of course the heartburn was in full effect.
Gender: Little man.
Labor Signs: Not yet, but I have been feeling more pressure down low.  Maybe this means he isn't breech anymore.  Mama can hope!
I also spoke with my neurologist last week about the whole epidural situation.  Long story short, I've suffered from migraines since I was a child and had to have a spinal tap done several years ago.  As a result of leaking spinal fluid, I ended up with the most excruciating, painful, horrendous migraine of my entire life.  The neurologist assured me that this won't necessarily happen again if I decide to get the epidural.  I have every intention of trying to do this birth med-free, but I'm no martyr either so we'll see how it all plays out.
Symptoms: Super dry skin, heartburn, back pain, exhaustion, nesting!
Major purchases this week? Oh boy, it was a busy week for Mama's wallet.  We ordered the blinds, stroller and car seat (thanks Mom!), rug and rug pad, and the most adorable seersucker blazer and pants from Children's Place for my best friend's wedding in June.
Classes/Tours: We went on our hospital tour this past Saturday.  The woman who gave the tour was extremely nice and funny.  She did a Powerpoint presentation at the beginning for all of us and talked a lot about when to come to the hospital and what to bring.  It was great to have a list to work off of when thinking about what we need to pack.  She even reminded us to bring a cooler for Hubs (filled with water and food, despite his protests of wanting to bring beer!).  Then we got to walk around and see the ER where we will check in, the labor and delivery room (didn't look so scary without a screaming mama in labor!), and the postpartum room.  It was extremely reassuring to me to hear about their strong advocacy for skin-to-skin, even with a c-section because this was one of the things I have been worried about if we have to go that route.  I am getting both anxious and excited thinking about the whole labor and delivery process.
Nursery: I am in love.  I promise I will do a post about the entire nursery with pictures this week.
How mama is feeling: Pregnant.  That's how I answer when someone asks.  Seriously though, I do feel good, I'm just tired and slow moving.
Weekly wisdom: Meltdowns will happen and they will most likely be over stupid things.  Try not to stress about them too much and make sure to laugh when your husband tries to blow your nose in the midst of your crying fit to make you smile.
Looking forward to: The massive quantities of packages arriving this week.  I love packages!
Next appointment: March 1st

My plans for posts in the near future include one about all the nursery details as well as the registry process and picks.  I've got a ton of pictures to share too.

The One with the Weekly Pregnancy Update

I'll be doing the week 29 bumpdate in just a few days, but I didn't want to skip week 28 just because this week has been so busy.

28 Weeks

I feel like a house.

How far along? 28 weeks (The dumb Bump says eggplant again)
Total weight gain/loss: +6 pounds.
Maternity clothes: I should probably get rid of this category because I am wearing nothing else at this point.  Old Navy just had a pretty big sale on maternity clothes so I ordered a few spring-y things.
Sleep: Well, considering I am still fighting a cold and cough and Max needs someone to sleep in the living room with him after his surgery, I have been sleeping like shit.
Best moment this week: Finishing painting the nursery.
Miss Anything? Wine.  I really could have used a drink this week.
Movement: This baby is super active and I love every minute of it.
Food cravings: Donuts, candy, and corn muffins.  I have been eating absolute crap lately and really need to get some decent foods into my body soon.
Anything making you queasy or sick? No thankfully, although just about everything causes heartburn.
Gender: Boy all the way.
Labor Signs: Not yet.

Symptoms: Really bad back pain, probably a combination of sleeping on the couch and sciatica.
Major purchases this week? I ordered some stuff from Old Navy for me and baby and my shower invitations arrived.  I am going to work on buying some more stuff for the shower when my mom is here this week.
Nursery: The paint is on the walls and the furniture is coming this week!  I cannot believe that this is all really happening.  I am going to do a full nursery post this week once the furniture is all set up.

Taping off where the gray stripe is going to go.

How mama is feeling: I've been a little moody lately and I am definitely starting to feel more pregnant physically.  The back pain was really bad this weekend and I was constantly wincing from the super sharp pain.  I am also feeling a desperate need to clean and organize, so I guess the nesting has begun.
Weekly wisdom: When you husband gets frustrated from painting, leave him alone to cool off.  He is just trying to make it perfect for your son so try not to nag.
Looking forward to: The delivery of the furniture and our hospital tour on Saturday.
Next appointment: March 1st

The One with No Balls

Max lost his manhood on Thursday.

He was de-nutted, as Hubs keeps calling it.

When we first got him, there were talks of breeding him.  Max is show-quality dog from a highly reputable breeder in California.  However, Hubs and I quickly realized how much time and money was involved in this process and decided against it.  Hubs was still pushing for it, but there is no way we could get involved in the showing and breeding process, especially with the little guy on the way.

So, we scheduled Max's surgery.  For Valentine's Day.  Because clearly we are the meanest parents on the planet.

We also had his dew claws removed in anticipation of the baby's arrival.  They are extremely sharp and difficult to cut, plus he doesn't need them, so we figured since he would already be under for the neutering surgery we would do this as well.

All went well with the surgery and when I picked him up on Thursday after school, he was howling up a storm in his crate at the vet.  I think they were more than happy to be rid of him.

Because he's a dummy, Max managed to eat a piece of gauze that was on his paw after the surgery so the vet gave him some kind of mineral oil to help him pass it.  Well that was the biggest mistake ever because it totally effed up his stomach even more.

I got him home and he slept for most of the afternoon.

Until he started the farting.  This is way too much TMI, but every time he farted there was leakage.  It was a hot mess in my living room and I should probably be the spokeswoman for Shout pet stain remover.  There was no warning and it scared him every time it happened so there was running around during the leakage.  Yeah, it was not pretty.

Only the most manly men wear pink bandages.

I spent Thursday night in the living room sleeping on the couch because he was uncomfortable in his crate with his cone on.  It was a long night.

Friday was a little better, but the leakage continued and he managed to irritate one of his stitches in the snow and then the blood started.  I'm telling you, Shout should pay me because I used it so much.

I swear I didn't pose this picture.  Check out the tennis balls in the sun.  Max was sending us a message I think.

I have made no less than 4 trips to CVS since Thursday picking up bandages, tape, gauze, and baby wipes.  It has been quite a shit show (no pun intended) over here.

Saturday was a much better day and he even spent several hours sleeping in his crate last night which meant Mommy could sleep in her own bed for a few hours.

He's definitely feeling better today and is getting annoyed with the cone, but the minute it comes off he starts to lick.

He fell asleep the other day like this.

I am on school vacation this week so I'll be home with him.

Hopefully there will be no more bleeding or leakage.

We made sure to buy him lots of tennis balls for when he is feeling better.  They may not be the same, but balls are balls.

The One with the Weekly Pregnancy Update

27 Weeks

And the gray is back.  Where are my boobs by the way?

I've added a few new categories this week.

How far along? 27 weeks (rutabaga)
Total weight gain/loss: Still right around +6 pounds.
Maternity clothes: Absolutely.  And fitting in any regular sized clothes, even the hang around the house ones, is getting tough.
Sleep: Well this blows big time lately.  I have developed a really nasty cold and cough (more on this below) and need to sleep sitting up so I don't have full on coughing fits.  That means sleeping on the couch and waking up tons of times each night.  It really sucks.
Best moment this week: Hubs felt the little guy kick for the first time.  The look on his face was pretty awesome.
Miss Anything? Bladder control.  I pee a little almost every time I cough or sneeze.
Movement: Oh yes.  I felt hiccups for the first time this week too.
Food cravings: York Peppermint Patties and strawberries.  I also started eating small salads again and things seems to be okay with that which I am very happy about.
Anything making you queasy or sick? All good with this.
Gender: Boy.
Labor Signs: Couple of BH contractions I think.

Symptoms: Tired, headaches (probably from coughing), heartburn.
Major purchases this week? We picked up all the painting supplies for the nursery and started painting yesterday.  I am super happy with how things are progressing and we need to do another coat of the blue and then do the gray stripe.  I also ordered the crib skirt, the knobs for the dresser, and my shower invitations.
Nursery: See above about the painting and purchases and below for a sneak peek of the wall color.

I'll do a full before and after picture comparison when it's finished, but here's a preview of the color.

How mama is feeling: Unfortunately, not so great physically.  I came home from school on Thursday with a little cough.  Hubs has been sick a couple of times this winter and many of my students have been sick and in school.  It was inevitable that I would get sick.  Well, the little cough turned into a full blown cold and extremely gross cough.  I called the OB and my choices are Tylenol and Robitussin...two of the most useless medications available.  So, I'm dealing, but I am not a very happy camper right now.  I just picked up a Vicks vaporizer so I am hoping that helps a little tonight.
Weekly wisdom: Take care of your body.  If you need to rest, do it.  If you need to take time off from work, do it.  And try not to feel too bad when you can't help your husband do any of the snow clean up because you are growing a human.
Looking forward to: The arrival of the baby bag today, nursery furniture delivery next week, and my mom's visit next week.  Also hoping I don't hear anything from the OB this week about the results of my one hour glucose test.  No news is good news.
Next appointment: March 1st

The One with Nemo

Super important newsflash.

Wait for it...

There was a blizzard in the Northeast this weekend.

Shocking I know.  I only report the top news over here.

Anyway, we got pretty slammed.  I didn't have school on Friday and who knows what will happen tomorrow.

Nemo hit us hard and we are still digging out.

Original image here

We have at least two feet over here with drifts up near my chest.  Hubs has been in his glory playing with his snowblower and Max thinks snow is the greatest thing ever.

We have been stuck in the house since mid-day on Friday and I am itching to get out of here today.  The governor lifted the driving ban yesterday afternoon so we are going to head out today and run some errands.

On this list...nursery paint!  More on that to follow in another post if Hubs and I both survive the painting experience.

And now lots of obligatory blizzard pictures...

Our front door covered in ice on Friday night.

Out the kitchen window.  That is our front yard, the street, and the yard across the street.

Max had a blast in his pen.

The back deck and the pond.  Oh and that's the grill on the left.

Jeep?  What Jeep?

Hubs and his toy.

Max got some fun play time in the snow.

Maybe our street will get plowed today.

Here's a quick video using my new favorite app, Vine.  I love how easy it is and how you can combine little snippets of video together.

Oh and there's another storm or two coming this week.  That should be lots of fun.  Hates it!

The One with the Weekly Pregnancy Update

26 Weeks

Yes, I am now repeating outfits.  Deal with it.

How far along? 26 weeks (lettuce...although TB does not specify what kind of lettuce)
Total weight gain/loss: Officially +6 pounds since my retrieval day.
Maternity clothes: Yes and I have now graduated to Hubs t-shirts for around the house.
Sleep: Ah, I remember sleep.  Apparently, this is just not going to happen in any sort of good way anymore.  I slept in the recliner part of our couch last night in an effort to combat the heartburn and the snoring coming from Hubs.  Not the most comfortable sleep, but not all that bad actually.
Best moment this week: Getting a "just for fun" ultrasound at my appointment with my old OB.  My destined to be difficult little boy is breech again, so we are crossing our fingers he turns before the big show in a few months.

Miss Anything? Seeing my feet and my lady parts.  No idea how it's looking down there right now.
Movement: Yes and I love every minute of it.
Food cravings: Donuts and cookies
Anything making you queasy or sick? No, thankfully.
Gender: One very active little boy.
Labor Signs: Nope.

Symptoms: Sore feet, hips and back, lack of energy, leg cramps at night, heartburn.
Major purchases this week? I bought my first package of full-on huge-enough-to-be-a-flag Granny panties this weekend.  They are absolutely glorious!  I normally wear a high-cut brief from VS, but even they were cutting too low.  I have never been happier with ugly underwear in my life.  Hubs made me promise to put it away in a bin after the baby comes!  I am waiting for my new bras to arrive this week and I cannot wait.  Oh, and I bought a Kate Spade diaper bag at their secret online sale today.  So excited to get it!
Weekly wisdom: Do not stress out about things you cannot change (like your baby being breech 3 whole months before he is going to arrive).
Looking forward to: Painting the nursery this weekend and ordering my shower invitations.
Next appointment: March 1st.  That will be my last every 4 weeks appointment.  After that, I go to every 2 weeks.
